Communicating experiences to others via writing is one of my passions. I've always considered myself a writer and enjoyed the writing I did in school, but have only started to pursue a career in freelance journalism in the last year or so. After graduating from Green Mountain College I moved west to Lander, Wyoming for an internship with the Curriculum Publications Department of the National Outdoor Leadership School. This platform provided me my first exposure to the world of professional writing, and with that first glance I was sold. While with NOLS I was able to write several ecosystem specific guidebooks for regions all over the world in which the school operates. I was also afforded the opportunity to co-write a book with the school's Director of Curriculum John Gookin on backcountry lightning risk management. You can preorder your copy of the book here. From there, I branched out into freelance writing with an article for Backpacking Light Magazine for a 10 day fastpack of Vermont's Long Trail.

In the future I plan to expand this work with more magazine articles and essays that chronicle personal experiences, travel, and recreation. My favorite flavor of writing is deeply personal storytelling that can communicate something about the human experience within the context of an engaging experience.
