Most days find me running, writing, and reading in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia.. For a living I work with the Outdoor Education Group to deliver only the finest educational outcomes to Australia's youth. When I'm traveling, my favorite activities in the outdoors include mountaineering, scaling walls of ice and rock, and running on whatever trails and roads I find myself near.
Originally from New Jersey in the United States, I got into the outdoors via involvement with the Boy Scouts. When I graduated from high school I followed this passion to Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont. In 2013 I graduated with a BS in Adventure Education and a BA in History. I celebrated my graduation with a punishing 9 day, 11 hour, 4 minute fastpack of the the 280 mile Long Trail.. I followed my nose west and worked for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in Lander, Wyoming within the Curriculum Publications Department. After learning the ins-and-outs of NOLS I continued my westward migration to New South Wales, Australia to work for the Outdoor Education Group.
Travel:
In the summer of 2012 I spent 6 weeks in Peru as part of a high-altitude mountaineering course with the School for International Expedition Training. The three week mountaineering course was augmented by time spent with rural Quechuan villagers, travel in the rural south, as well as time spent in three of Peru's biggest cities: Lima, Trujillo, and Cuzco. Improving my Spanish skills and interacting with a vibrant, intact culture that was very different from my own were hallmarks of the trip.
During January of 2013, I spent a month between London and Morocco. After spending a week acquainting myself with the history, culture, and drinking establishments of London, I met other GMC students in Casablanca, Morocco, for a course studying the history and religion of the country. As part of the course I was lucky enough to spend time in many of Morocco's biggest cities, visit Sufi and Sunni Islam mosques, madrasas, and shrines, and spend time on a camel train in the Saharan Desert.
Athletics:
Athletics have always been a big part of my life. I discovered the simple joys of long distance running my freshman year of High School. I continued this passion into college, running for the Green Mountain College Eagles. At 18, I ran my first marathon in Burlington, Vermont. At 19, I finished first in my age group in the FJG Race to the Top of Vermont up Mt. Mansfield. Later in the year, I ran in the Lake George Half Marathon and finished second in my age group and twelfth in a pack of 500 runners. At 21 I finished my first Ironman triathlon and Ultramarathon in Cozumel, Mexico, and Canberra, Australia, respectively.

Work Experience:
I've gained work experience by pursuing things that I am passionate about. For five summers through school I worked at the Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation in Lake Clear, New York. At Floodwood I served as a voyageur, guiding groups of 13-17 year old boys on four and five day canoeing and backpacking wilderness experiences. I also assisted with the instruction of on-site adventure applications (such as rock climbing, rappelling, and water sports), prepared food in an industrial setting for large groups of people, and performed other duties necessary to run a large Boy Scout camp. In college I served as a volunteer trip leader for Green Mountain Adventure Programming, where I lead ice climbing, canoeing, and backpacking trips, as well as leading a backpacking trip for the 2012 Wilderness Challenge Freshman Orientation.
I have also served as the History and Adventure Education tutor for the Calhoun Learning Center at Green Mountain College, as well as a Student Admissions Ambassador for the Admissions Department. As a Student Admissions Ambassador, I led campus tours, interacted with prospective students over the phone and online, and performed other office support services.
I am a certified Wilderness First Responder, CPR/AED, AIRIE Avalanche Safety level 1, and am certified to drive 15 passenger vans for Green Mountain College. I tell people that I am also a intermediate/conversational Spanish speaker.
